NATO/US ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR "WAR CRIMES" IN SERBIA

POLICE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CRIMES AGAINST

PEOPLE OF COLOR IN THE UNITED STATES

NATO bombed the former Yugoslavia for more than 60 days. The bombs destroyed bridges, roads, leveled homes, and knocked out power plants and sewer systems. Because of the NATO bombs, there are a million refugees spread throughout the world. The humanitarian effort that NATO purports was the impetus for the terrorist bombing has clearly been destructive ¾ thousands of Serbian civilians have been killed.

After the terror of NATO bombs, now begins the occupation of Serbia by NATO and the US.

Just as Serbia has been terrorized and is now occupied, Police are terrorizing black, brown and yellow people in the United States, and are an occupation force in our communities. Homeless people are shot down in the streets of Los Angeles, civilians are sexually assaulted and tortured by Police in New York jails, innocent men and women are killed by Police when 911 is summoned for help in Riverside and East Los Angeles. When the crime rate in the United States is decreasing, young black, brown and yellow men and women are being imprisoned in record numbers. People of color are under attack, and hostile Police occupy our communities.

People of Color Against the War are a new coalition started by the Asian Left Forum, the Black Radical Congress and New Raza Left. We come together for this demonstration, press conference and rally to speak out against the bombing of the former Yugoslavia, to oppose the occupation of Serbia by NATO and the US, and to oppose the war being waged against people of color in the United States.

People of Color Against the War are having an anti-war demonstration/rally on Saturday, June 19, 1999. Marchers will gather at Main and Arcadia at 11:00 a.m., and will end up at La Placita Olvera for a rally with speakers from the Black Radical Congress, New Raza Left, Asian Left Forum, and others opposed to NATO bombing in the former Yugoslavia, as well as the war against people of color in the U.S.

We want NATO and the U.S. out of Serbia, and the occupation to cease. We want funds that would go to war to be used for humanitarian efforts here at home for the homeless, poor, unemployed, and the underemployed We need to stop the war abroad, as well as the war at home.
